What will it cost?

Cost for New Zealand citizen/resident

Free abortion services to any pregnant person who is a resident of the Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Māui, Hawke's Bay district and is eligible for publicly funded healthcare in New Zealand. There may be prescription fees, and costs for ultrasound.

Cost for non-New Zealand resident

    Choices Kahungunu Health Servcies has two clinics in the Hawke's Bay.

    The Hastings clinic is located at 606 Karamu Road North, Hastings (opposite The Warehouse) — look for the flags. There is public parking, and the building is disability friendly. The nearest bus stop is located opposite The Warehouse on Karamu Road North. 

    The Flaxmere clinic at 13 Swansea Road, Flaxmere. The clinic is on the ground floor, next door to Flaxmere Pharmacy in the Flaxmere Shopping Centre. There is public parking at the Flaxmere Shopping Centre. The nearest bus stop is located opposite the Service Station, Swansea Rd, Flaxmere Village.

    Female practitioners

    There are female practitioners at our clinics.

    Contraception

    Contraception available through this clinic.

    • Contraception prescriptions.
    • IUD or IUS devices can be inserted when you have a surgical abortion.
    • A free contraceptive service is available after you have had your abortion.
    • A Depo Provera injection can be given at the same time as the first medication if you are having an early medical abortion.

    Counselling

    Abortion decision counselling and pre and post-abortion counselling can be provided in person.
