Email your name, date of birth, NHI number (if known), and safe contact details.

For early surgical abortion (first trimester) - refer to Epsom Day Unit and Auckland Medical Aid Clinic.

For later surgical abortion (second trimester) - refer to Epsom Day Unit.

What will it cost?

Cost for New Zealand citizen/resident

Free abortion services to any pregnant person eligible for publicly funded healthcare in New Zealand who is a resident of Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Counties Manukau and Waitematā districts. There may be prescription fees and costs for ultrasound.

Cost for non-New Zealand resident

    Accessibility

    Access to Middlemore is through the Galbraith Building or train station entrance. The clinic is on the first floor, with lift access. The lift buttons have braille.

    The clinic has a wheelchair accessible toilet.

    The clinic uses Middlemore Hospital parking and there are designated mobility spaces. Urgent drop-off parking is available at the front entrance of the Galbraith Building.  There are bus and train stops outside the entrance to the Galbraith Building.

    Assistance or funding for transport to the service is available if required.

    If you have accessibility needs, please let the clinic know ahead of your appointment.

    Translation services

    Translation services are available. Please let the clinic know that you will need translation support.

    Contraception

    Contraception available through this clinic.

    • Contraception prescriptions.
    • Free contraception service available after abortion.
    • A Depo Provera injection can be given at the same time as the first medication if you are having an early medical abortion.
    • An implant can be inserted at the same time as the first medication if you are having an early medical abortion.

    Counselling

    Abortion decision counselling is required and is provided in person or virtually.

    A referral for pre-abortion, and post-abortion counselling can be organised, if required.
